This high quality compact diffraction spectroscope with fixed slit & fixed focus is design for examining which parts of white light are absorbed by a gemstone (as well as by other materials). This produces a spectrum image and breaks up the light that is being transmitted from a gemstone to its spectral colors.

The process allows you to see the various wavelengths absorbed by the gemstone to know what elements are contained in the gemstone that are causing the absorption.
